HPD says they got a call at about 2 pm from a resident there was a suspicious package in a parking space at an apartment complex located at the 7000 block of Bissonnet Street near Beechnut Street.

“Once the package was found by Houston police, they observed it was a deceased person inside the box,” said HPD Detective Matthew Hughey.
Surveillance footage capture a man carrying the U-Haul box on a dolly and dropping it near a parking space in the complex, Hughey says.
Investigators say they recognized the man from the crime scene.
“I couldn’t comment on his motivation as to why he came back to the scene,” Hughey said.
The man, who is considered a person of interest, was found at the apartment complex and taken in for questioning.
Despite the disturbing details, many residents at the apartment complex were unphased because of how often crime happens there.
“It’s something regular here,” Resident Ashley Garcia said. “Something always happens in this complex. It doesn’t have much security. So finding out there was a box with a body, it’s nothing that shocking.”
